Community Association Institute

The Suncoast Chapter of the Community Association Institute held an 8 am meeting today in Tampa. Attending were Ellen Nimon, Ron Herb, Walter Sousa, and Ed Bedore.

The topic was "Strategic Planning for Board Members and Committee Chairs."

It was interesting to learn that other community associations in our area capitalize on the wealth of occupational experience of their residents and form little "think tanks". This group of people is available for advice and suggestions before the Board seeks outside counsel.

Without a doubt there is a wealth of expertise right here in our park! Input might be valuable to help solve various projects that arise.

Just a thought...not sure how to implement it. Not even sure how the Board will accept it. Just putting it out there for your comments.

Longest Resident Passes Away

Vera Douglass Jenkins, also known as June Jenkins, quietly passed away on August 29, 2007. She was 91 years young. In 1965, she and her husband Pinkie relocated to Regency Cove, and for 42 years she has been a loyal and caring resident of Regency Cove. Her picture shown here was taken by Dolores Brickner for The History of Regency Cove: the First Fifty Years.
If you have any personal memories of June or her husband, feel free to leave a comment down below.

Homes of Regency Cove Docks

As of yesterday, we have NO docks available, and no one is on the waiting list. We do not have any room in the storage lot, and we have 2 on the waiting list. If any of you with private docks, would want a shareholder with a boat at your dock, let me know, and I will have them contact you.

Park Sing-Along Planned

On September 17, at the summer "true potluck", the Summer Bunch is organizing a good old fashioned Sing- Along. The evening will begin with a few Mitch Miller classics, and eventually some country, gospel, and a patriotic song or two. Mary Lou Mittel should have the sign-up sheet posted in the information room, so we have an idea of the number of table and chairs to set up. All food is furnished by the participants, so plan to bring some hearty dishes to share, your place settings and drinks. This is the last true potluck supper of the summer, before Club Regency reconvenes in October.

Georgetown Redevelopment Imminent

A Georgetown Development Meeting with the Tampa Port Authority occurred Friday, September 7, 2007 discussing future building projects. Plans regarding complete renovation of water frontage and existing canals were presented. One hundred eight-nine boat slips, 99 of which will face our property on Canal, are expected. Dredging of the canals will take place internally to connect with north & south canals of the property to better improve the water quality and rejuvinate stagnant canals. As the time for building approaches, they will be available to meet with Homes of Regency Cove residents to answer any questions our shareholders may have regarding construction plans.
