Bayside West Neighborhood Assn.
The Bayside West Neighborhood Association and Guernsey Estates Crime Watch will meet January 11, 2009 at 7:00pm at Robert Goodwin Hall, at Homes of Regency Cove, 4851 W Gandy Blvd.
An officer from the Tampa Police Department will report on crime in the area, and give helpful tips onkeeping our homes safe.
County Commissioner Mark Sharpe (Councilman-at-Large) will present a program and talk about the light rail project.

Gasparilla Planning Meeting

Three Breakfasts Approaching
There are three community fund-raisers on the calendar
in the next few weeks.
The Shuffleboard Pancake Breakfast on Jan 9, 2010 will cost you $3.50, and a dollar extra if you want some scrambled eggs with your pancakes and sausages. See a shuffler for tickets, or buy at the door. 7:30 -11:oo am
The Gasparilla Fundraiser Hearty Breakfast cooked by Joe and Matt includes scrambled eggs, home fries, biscuits and gravy, juice and coffee for $4.00. Purchase tickets from Guy Hislop. Hours 7:30 til 10:00 am.
The Yacht Club Breakfast on January 30, 2010 consists of a biscuit, SOS, sausage, eggs, potatoes, coffee and juice for $4.00. See Chuck Paramore

Highlights of 2009
The following is a recap of the highlights of the year 2009. You can find most of these articles in the blog archives.
January
An afternoon tornado whizzes down Gandy Blvd. taking with it our front sign and causing damage to the bait shops.
Gasparilla Jan 31
The flagons await the pirate invasion 0f 2009. Ron Jeffries served as Chairman pirate of the Gasparilla celebration again this year. For the first time, the Regency Cove Ramblers were scheduled to entertain on the Point. They were a big hit. It sure was a cold day.
February
The project plods along.
The new sign installed looks very much like the old one. The supports are much stronger, and it is better illuminated.
March -April
Board elections were held. Patti Fennessey was originally placed on the board in Dec 2008 to fill a vacancy but was re-elected in March, with new board member Paul McCumber, and incumbent Chet Hindman.
Officers were sworn in shortly after the elections.
Golf Picnic was held in Junglelandia. What a fabulous photo!

l people who give of their time and talents to Regency Cove. Ed and Cheri Scobee ran the grills and fed well over 130 people in a very short time. The Hillsborough County Office of Neighborhood Relations (ONR), the folks who awarded the grant, were our guests for the day. The weather was beautiful, and the food wasn't bad either.
In April, our new secure web page was unwrapped. Residents and renters will be granted access to the secure section of the website. You can view it at http://www.regencycove.com/.
May
Mary Rambler retires and Michelle Duran fills her part-time office position.
Elsa Gorr fills Larry Buttlewerth's vacancy on the Board of Directors.

The first time ever Kentucky Derby party, organized by Betty Ridge and many volunteers, was a smash!
Pool lights completed. Our pool is now legal for after sunset swimming.
Swine Flu warnings circulate the park.
June
Pool repairs completed. Pool was drained and stairway repaired. Ed Scobee spent most of the evening on guard here, watching over the hoses. Residents were (mostly)very patient throughout the repairs, and very happy when the job was completed.
Fire extinguishers are mandated for all units. Call the Office if you have any questions.
Garparilla statue makeover.
July
Disaster meetings take place in Regency Cove. A speaker from the United Way taught residents how to prepare for a disaster. Videos
were shown on a later Sunday afternoon to drive home the point. These videos are available for your viewing. Contact S.Ross.
AED class - After the installation of the AED (defribulator) in the clubhouse, ten residents took part in a half day training session to actually learn how to use the thing.
FriendshipTrail Bridge was closed to pedestrian traffic months earlier. but was reported on the blog in July.
August
Ron Herb takes a leave of absence from the board for health reasons.
A freak storm leaves power lines down in the western end of the park for more than half a day.
September
9-11 ceremony
The Davis Family party in hall on September 12 drew a large crowd. The food was FABULOUS. Chuck and Virginis sure know how to throw a party.
October
The tool shed for seawall engineering company is finally removed from Sunset Point. It looks like this seawall project is just about done.
November
Thanks to Mary Lou Mittel for organizing a delightful ceremony honoring the veterans in the park. The Veterans Day ceremony was held in the hall near the 11th hour on 11/11.
After acquiring some palms at discount prices, volunteers planted several at the pool and out on Pelican Point.
On the last day of November, residents gathered to decorate the hall for Christmas, and to share in some good spirits.
December
President Ron Herb, facing an upcoming surgery, decided to resign from the Board of Directors. Resident Betty Ridge was appointed by the board of directors to temporarily fill that position. Paul McCumber was chosen by a majority of the board to take the position of president.
These are just a few of the 180 posts that were written during the year 2009. Thank you for your readership.We now advance into a new year and a new decade. We look forward to your participation in the park events and the meetings of the board of directors. And as always, please volunteer.

New Year Party
Club Regency's New Year party will be held on Jan 1. We will be in the hall decorating in the morning at 10am, and if you come to help, you can save a space for yourself.
The doors will open at 7pm. Bring a snack to put on the refreshments table, and your own libations. Happy Days will play from 8 pm til midnight. These guys have always brought down the house. Hope you there to enjoy the fun.
