Tampa Photographer Laureate Visits Regency Cove

On June 26, Marion Belanger, the Photographer Laureate of the city of Tampa, made two visits to Regency Cove. Early in the afternoon, city officials drove her around several Tampa sites which they selected as Tampa icons chosen as true representations of the variety of Tampa real estate. One of those sites was Regency Cove. Marion was very impressed with the pristine condition of the park, but the afternoon sun was too harsh for photographing, so she returned on her own, later in the day, to catch our beautiful sunset lighting.

Marion is the fifth person to hold the annual position of Photographer Laureate for the city. She currently lives in Connecticut, and teaches at a university. Her website biography describes her as a photographer "who is interested in the concepts of persistence and change, and in the way that boundaries demarcate difference, particularly in regards to the land."

She is a published author, and is currently working on a collection for a soon-to-be-released book on the shifting edges of the North American tectonic plate here and in Iceland.

Her forthcoming book of the photographs of South Florida will be released in 2008. We will publicize her website when these photographs appear. Look forward to this.
