Shortly after 12:30 this morning, under the cover of darkness, several youths jumped the fence at the front gate. They were captured on our security camera, as one of them opened the front pedestrian gate for another one to enter. More importantly, they were also observed by Bill Robinson (pictured) our good neighbor, the owner of Gandy Bait and Tackle. Bill immediately called the police, and in just moments, several squad cars were at the front gate. A short time later, the police helicopter was circling over the park.
The noise of the helicopter woke Linda and Rich Siddens who went out in their car to investigate and possibly assist. "Not too many people were awake, because the lights were out throughout most of the park" Linda said. We have been warned to turn on our carport lights if we hear a helicopter up above.
Two of the intruders were caught and arrested. It seems that they couldn't climb over the new 8 ft fence in the area by the cul-del-sac. Next time you're around the bait store, stop in and give Bill a big thank-you. Its good to have neighbors like this.
