Chances are that you've been invited to one of those "free lunch" seminars that push insurance or financial products. And if you've attended any, you know there's usually nothing free about them. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission says these events often feature misleading claims and promote risky investments.
If you've already decided to attend a seminar, consider volunteering as a "free lunch" monitor for AARP. They would like to see the seminar invitations that you received.
To volunteer as a seminar monitor, go to www.aarp.org/nofreelunch. Send your invitations to AARP, Financial Security Free Lunch Mailbag, 601 E Street NW, S11-176, Washington DC 20049
