Woody's on Gandy Blvd will soon be leaving the neighborhood, and a Maaco auto painting business will fill the void. In talking to the EPA, I learned that this is an administrative type permit. Because it is a normal type business (a body shop) the EPA can issue a permit without a public hearing. The City of Tampa has the same type of permit for buildings and other situations. Maaco will have special filtering systems in place that Jeff at the EPA said they have to be keep clean. They might paint more than one car at a time and they can't afford to have overspray getting on other cars. The sign is just notice for what is proposed at that location. All we can do is keep an eye and nose on the building. If we see or smell anything out of the ordinary we can call EPA and they will investigate. You won't see anything happen before May 2009. The current tenants have to be given 30 days notice to move. If you have any car repairs you better get them done quickly.
