I have attended many meetings during my lifetime but Thursday's Board meeting has to be one of the poorest. I certainly have never felt compelled to leave before the end of the meeting. In the park we have a small pool of quallifed people to serve as board members. It is a time consuming thankless job. Jeanette and I knew Ron and Ellie Herb before they moved into the park. When it appeared that Mr. Herb was in line to be President of the Board we were not sure if he was up to the task. After attending a few board meetings after his becoming president and hearing how he intended to see that the park was run, we were very optimistic. We told many people that it was the first time we left a board meeting in high spirits. We encouraged residents to attend the meetings and highly complimented Mr. Herb. After Thursday's meeting all this changed. We were disappointed that Larry Buttelwerth interrupted Mr. Herb to speak and he was out of order. However, Mr. Herb handled the situation very poorly. In my opinion the situation could have been handled more diplomatically if Mr. Herb had used his gavel and politely informed Larry that he was out of order and would be recognized as soon as he finished speaking. We were shocked when Mr. Herb began to personally attack Mr. Buttelwerth in a very loud voice with criticisms and insults. Then he began to do the same to Rose Reis accusing her of being underhanded for passing out information sheets to board members and residents in attendance concerning wording in the contract from engineer, Reuben Clausen. After reading the information it appearded to us that she had spent a great deal of time in an attempt to protect the interests of the shareholders who for the most part know little or nothing regarding such matters. I don't understand why Mr. Herb was offended by her trying to inform and protect us. I don't recall hearing at any point where Mr. Herb's honesty was questioned. Why was he compelled to reassure us that he was not involved in anything dishonest? No other position in the park has the potential of affecting property values and lives of residents as does the President of the Board. It is unfortunate that we, the shareholders, cannot elect the president as well as the board members who represent us. Hopefully, those of us attending this disastrous meeintg will remember how it was conducted and take proper action at election time. One of the most important duties of the President is to conduct meetings in an orderly fashion and to work harmoniously with board members to get the most benefit of their experience and knowledge for the good of the shareholders who elected them. It is questionable whether Mr. Herb is capable of doing this.
